because the new costume DC gave him pretty much sucks.

Looks like Black Lightning's got a rocky road.

Seriously, his current outfit does suck. His mid-90s outfit was a little bit Hammer Time, but it was better than this. He should go back to the disco collar and the afro wig.

Yeah, Black Lightning just can't win. I think that's why he was so upset. He was getting his hopes up that he would finally get an awesome costume now that he was in the Justice League, and Ed Benes handed him the spirit gum and domino mask with yellow lenses.

Given the fact that Meltzer's new HQ for them consisted of their Superfriends base though, maybe he's lucky that they didn't give him Black Vulcan's old bathing suit.
